Subject: NNTP, Security?
Almost all of the news servers refuse to offer NNTP service, someone tells me
the reason is security. But as far as I know there is an anonymous mail
service in Finland by which one can post news anonymously, and also with SMTP,
one can send anonymous mail on any PC via SL/IP, so why they only concein
about the security problem of NNTP?
Any comments?

Subject: Trunpet Winsock with WFW 3.11
Hi folks
Yesterday I changed my Compaq 486/66i Deskpro to Windows for Workgroups 3.11
since then TCPman.exe 1.0a and 1.0b give me the error
running with less than recommended
number of network buffer (10 of 16)
In the manual I read to take some devices off.
The only one I could take off was the Compaq Sound Driver which helped for
Ver 1.0a but not enough for 1.0b. Since Oracle wants at least 10 (I found that
with trial and error) I would like to get more. If possible I would like also
to reinstall my sound driver.

Subject: [Q] mosaic with winsock.dllfrom pc-nfs 5
Hello!
I just installed MS-Windows Mosaic on my PC. I generally access our
SPARCServer using Vista eXceed for windows which works with PC-NFS. I
tried to start up mosaic, but no matter what URL I try to open, I get
a "Failed DNS Lookup" message. I guess that this is a problem because
PC-NFS uses NIS rather than DNS for address lookup. What can I do to
allow me to use mosaic in this configuration? Any information or
advice would be greatly appreciated and email or posting to this group
would be fine.
Many thanks,
Seth

PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE someone tell me what the difference is between
32-bit DISK access and 32-bit FILE access. I know it was discussed before,
but like a bozo, I wasn't paying attention at the time, and now I really
wish I had been.
Thanks to any kind soul!!!!!

Are you running the latest version (2.8.7, I think)? It cured a lot of
problems which were in the earlier attempts.

Subject: Developers: E-Mail-Newsreader w/PGP!
Hello netters,
In these days when who knows who is reading e-mail as it passes through so
many systems, perhaps it would be nice to have a PGP encryption option in an
e-mail front-end for WinSock. Would this be difficult to implement? Any
readers of the PGP or encryption groups floating around?
Rob.
